TrueLocal Announces $5,000 Winner
Winner chosen amongst the many searches on TrueLocal.ca
Guelph Ontario, September 25, 2006 - TrueLocal, a search engine that specializes in
driving online sales to offline businesses, announces today the winner of the $5,000 giveaway in
conjunction with the launch of TrueLocal.ca (www.TrueLocal.ca).
TrueLocal is a Canadian local search engine that can be described as an intelligent business phonebook. Canadian users can look for neighborhood dentists, clothing stores and contractors as well as full text search for such items as golf courses, used car dealer, airport limousine service or cooking school. Users can look for types of businesses, products and even brands.
Karen Jeoffroy of Barrie, Ontario was the winner of the $5,000. Jeoffroy was watching CP24’s afternoon news with David Onley and saw Jake Baillie, President of TrueLocal speaking about the Canadian local search engine.
"I saw Jake on CP24 and saw that you could win $5,000 just by doing a search so I thought I would try it," stated Jeoffroy. "I plan on splitting the money with my husband and paying off some bills. I found the site pretty helpful and can’t wait to use it more."
Users of TrueLocal.ca were able to register to win $5,000 dollars by completing a search at www.TrueLocal.ca and filling out the online entry form. The winner was chosen at random and on September 15, 2006.
TrueLocal.ca maintains its own comprehensive list of over 1.3 million Canadian brick and mortar businesses. Users can perform full text searches (either in French and English) to see relevant local businesses and since TrueLocal uses their patent-pending ground to web search technology, only physical businesses are listed without any "online spam."
